A longtime figure in New York's music scene, Julia has spent about 13 years in the city's classical music and entertainment world as a performer, ensemble leader, producer and contractor. She studied at Columbia University, The Juilliard School and the CUNY Graduate Center, and the vast network of musicians she has built since, spanning classical, jazz, hip-hop, Latin and pop, is at the heart of JD Music Agency. Beyond performers, she works closely with music directors, arrangers, sound engineers and production teams, so every project, from a custom wedding arrangement to a full orchestral production, can be built from the ground up.
She has performed at many of the city's major venues, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Central Park SummerStage, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She has led chamber ensembles and large orchestras and contracted musicians for artists including Jon Batiste, Vic Mensa and Yandel. As co-artistic director of Sonora Collective, a nonprofit musicians' collective and concert series, she brings years of experience as a producer and concert presenter. Her work also includes fashion events for designers Sienna Li and Minika Ko, score recording sessions at Electric Lady Studios and Power Station, and recording projects for the record labels Lexicon Classics and Verve Records.
For her clients, Julia handles contracting, acts as the liaison between artists, management and musicians, and often leads programming and creative advisement. She makes sure every player is paid fairly, and works with Local 802, New York's musicians' union, on union projects.
